Manhunt Underway in Doda as Local Man Flees with SPO’s AK-47 Rifle

SRINAGAR: A manhunt has been launched in the Trown area of Doda district after a local man, identified as Muhammad Rafi, went missing along with an AK-47 rifle belonging to a Special Police Officer (SPO) on Tuesday evening.

According to sources, the incident occurred when Rafi, a resident of Trown near Pranoo, was traveling from Bhella to his village with SPO Safdar Hussain, who was carrying the weapon. Upon reaching Pul Doda, SPO Hussain deboarded the vehicle to buy some essentials. Seizing the opportunity, Rafi fled in his car with the rifle.

The abandoned vehicle was later found near Jagota in the Bhalla area, but both Rafi and the weapon were missing.

Confirming the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Javed Iqbal, stated that efforts are underway to locate Rafi. “He might be hiding somewhere in his village but has not been traced yet,” SSP Iqbal added.
