MENDHAR:In region where education once seemed an unattain able dream, Pine Wood School Sabra, located near the Line of Control (LOC) in Balakot, has emerged as a beacon of hope for children. from remote villages of Block Mendhar in Sub. Division Poonch. Initiated by the Indian Army in 1996, this school began its journey by conducting classes in makeshift tents during a period of unrest caused by terrorism. Today, it stands tall with modern infrastruc- ture, qualified teachers, and a commitment to empower
ing young minds. On Tuesday, the RR Battalion of the Indian Army continued its unwa
vering support to these chil- dren by distributing books, uniforms, and stationery to
about seventy students hail ing from below-poverty line (BPL) families. The event was held in a lively atmosphere, ensuring that children can continue their education without any obstacles. The Pine Wood School, which offers free
and quality education, has flourished over the years. It now boasts a well-devel-oped school building, a library, a recreation hall, and a playground, provid ing an all-encompassing learning environment. From free transportation to academic essentials, the RR Battalion’s dedication ensures not only the academic growth of students but also their overall per- sonality development through regular extracurric ular activities.
Speaking at the event, mil itary officers emphasized their commitment to sup- porting the school and its students. “Such initiatives will continue in the future to ensure the holistic growth. of these children,” an officer remarked.
Students, their families, and the school staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude, praising the Army’s efforts to pave the way for a brighter future. For these young minds, Pine Wood School and the unwavering support of the Indian Army represent a promise of opportunity, progress, and hope for a better tomorrow.
