They are ring shot guns, fierce as the fury of a typhoon and calm as roses with immense fragrance! Today we will be talking about the Indian Army Force Delta!

-But first let us discuss the Rashtriya Rifles!

-The Rashtriya Rifles (National Rifles) is a counter-insurgency/counter-terrorism force in India, formed in 1990, to specifically serve in the Jammu and Kashmir region.

  • They also maintain public order by drawing powers from the Armed Forces (Jammu and Kashmir) Special Powers Act, 1990 (AFSPA).
  • The RR was raised by the Indian Army by reconstituting two corps (about 75,000 troops). Its personnel are provided by the Indian Army on deputation. The RR is commanded by an Additional Director General of Rashtriya Rifles (ADG RR).

-Crest

-The RR crest consists of the Ashoka Chakra and two crossed Kalashnikov rifles with fixed bayonets. Beneath, in a banner, is emblazoned the RR’s motto: Dridhta aur Veerta (Persistence and Valour).

-Organisation

RR units are organized under five “Counter Insurgency Force” (CIF) HQs. Each CIF is responsible for an area of the Kashmir Valley and Jammu Division.

-Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) R / Romeo Force – Rajouri and Poonch.

-Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) D / Delta Force – Doda and Kishtwar .

-Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) V / Victor Force – Valley districts (Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Budgam).

-Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) K / Kilo Force – Kupwara, Baramulla and Srinagar.

-Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) U / Uniform Force – Udhampur and Banihal, now also covering Ladakh.

-Victor Force and Kilo Force operate under the control of the XV Corps. Delta Force, Romeo Force operate under the control of XVI Corps.

-Uniform Force, which earlier used to operate under the XVI Corps, was moved from the Poonch sector to the Ladakh sector (under I Corps) in 2020 to counter Chinese aggression.

Operational sectors

-The areas covered by the CIFs are further divided into sectors:

-Sector 1 – Anantnag district

-Sector 2 – Kulgam district

-Sector 3 – Manasbal Lake

-Sector 4 – Doda district

-Sector 5 – Baramulla district

-Sector 6 – Poonch district

-Sector 7 – Kupwara district

-Sector 8 – Kupwara district

Sector 9 – Kishtwar district

-Sector 10 – Baramulla district

-Sector 11 – Banihal

-Sector 12 – Budgam district

-Sector 13 – Rajouri district

-Major General APS Bal, SM assumed the command as GOC CIF (Delta). He honoured the Brave hearts by laying a wreath at the War Memorial and extended his best wishes to all ranks, encouraging them to uphold the highest standards of operational preparedness at all times

The Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Delta, also known as the Delta Force, is a unit of the Indian Army that plays a key role in countering terrorism in the Jammu and Kashmir region:

-Force Delta:

Established on September 5, 1994, the Delta Force is the oldest organization of its kind in the Indian Army. It is based in Batote and has been instrumental in eliminating terrorism in the Chenab Valley.

The Delta Force has received 1,439 Gallantry Awards, including one Ashok Chakra, five Kirti Chakras, and 46 Shaurya Chakras.

The Delta Force trains with other foreign special operations units, such as the Australian Special Air Service Regiment, the British Special Air Service, and Canada’s Joint Task Force 2.

The Delta Force is one of five Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) HQs that organize Rashtriya Rifles units. Each CIF is responsible for a specific area of the Kashmir Valley and Jammu Division.

Finally we will end this story by saying that, It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” “We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another! Force Delta believes in this!
