This man is back-of-the-envelope calculation, this expression refers to a quick approximate calculation done informally, as on the back of an envelope. And the remote areas are an envelope by itself! He loves visiting back of beyond an isolated place located far from any town and by his work he has already done he has to go to the back of beyond! The man is none other than SSP Poonch!
-What he did we will be telling you later in the story subsequently!
-Far flung Communities live in wilderness but this man in an unusual way conveyed a message…..’Dard Dilon Ke Kam Ho Jaate, Kash Hum Aur Tum Ek Ho Jaate’ (The pins of hearts would have lessened if we all were one)
-This man, everywhere he goes knows the area (like the) back of his hand!
-If you know something like the back of your hand, you are very familiar with it and know it in detail.
This was a historic Outreach: SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain Engages with Far-Flung Community was the line which I had to write upon!
-In a groundbreaking initiative, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, has made history by holding multiple Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings in the remotest areas of the district. This pioneering effort marks the first time an SSP has directly engaged with the public in far-flung villages, listening to their grievances and addressing security concerns.¹
-The meetings, held in inaccessible regions, witnessed an overwhelming response from locals who had long awaited a direct communication channel with senior police officials. SSP Shafqat Hussain assured the public of swift action on their complaints, emphasizing community-oriented policing to bridge the gap between law enforcement and residents.
-Very few would have taken an initiative like this but the SSP did take one and the people loved it as if their own son had come to pay them a visit!
-By the way the same was overdue!
-Obviously he must have observed many things, taken the problems of the people into account and also thought of the fact that how could they be addressed to!
-Indeed a brilliant initiative but more such as this one are required to be taken by Jammu and Kashmir Police! The SSP has set the standards high!
-In Kishtwar floods too he was at his brilliant best but in Poonch he has gone a furlong ahead!
I have a small story to tell here! Be it any department things are not at all looked after well by the concerned authorities! This one is about a school in a remote area in Jammu Province! This is one of the many schools where mid day meals are served! But the arrangements made are medieval! The meals are cooked on earthen pots, the firewood has to be collected by the children and then the utensils are also washed by the children! If such are the conditions prevailing then where are we heading towards? Anyway this was a mere anecdote and we are sure that the SSP Poonch must have checked the same in the minutest of details! This episode by the way is not of District Poomch but is of District Jammu!
-Key Issues Addressed by SSP Poonch!
-During the interactions, SSP Shafqat Hussain discussed critical issues, including:
-Road Connectivity: Ensuring better infrastructure to facilitate communication and development.
-Drug Abuse: Combating the menace and providing support for affected individuals and families.
- Border Security Concerns: Assuring prompt police intervention to address concerns and ensure public safety.
-A Historic Step towards Better Governance and Security!
-SSP Shafqat Hussain’s proactive approach has been widely appreciated, with many locals calling it a ‘historic step’ towards better governance and security. This initiative is expected to strengthen public trust in the police force and set a precedent for future administrative outreach in Poonch.
As the newly appointed SSP Poonch, Shafqat Hussain has demonstrated his commitment to community policing and public engagement. His efforts will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of the people in Poonch and contribute to a safer, more harmonious society.
Well indeed was history being created and we will conclude by saying, ‘Yeh Toh Shuruaat Hai, Aage, Aage Dekhiye Hota Hai Kya’! (This is just the beginning let all see what will happen in future! ‘Haal Kya Hai Dilon Ka Na Poochho Sanam, Aapka Muskurana Gazab Dha Gaya’! The SSP had won the hearts of the people!
