DC Ganderbal assesses post-Snowfall situationOversees swift movement of stranded vehicles on Srinagar-Leh highway

GANDERBAL, DECEMBER 28: In the aftermath of fresh snowfall across Ganderbal district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Raghav S, conducted an extensive on-ground inspection of Kangan Subdivision to evaluate the situation and oversee ongoing snow clearance operations. During the visit, the DC personally interacted with snow clearance teams to assess their progress and address any challenges impeding the removal process. He stressed the importance of swift and efficient snow clearance efforts, directing the concerned departments to ensure that key roads and critical areas remain accessible despite heavy snowfall. Highlighting the district administration’s preparedness, the DC assured the public that all necessary resources, including men and machinery, are on standby to handle any emergencies arising from the snowfall. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents during this challenging time. As part of the inspection, the DC also monitored the movement of vehicles on Srinagar-Leh highway, particularly those carrying tourists stranded at Sonamarg after snowfall.Despite challenging weather conditions, the District Administration coordinated with relevant agencies to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of stranded vehicles on Srinagar-Leh highway.The district administration has urged the public to remain patient and follow advisories issued by the authorities while assuring them that every effort is being made to restore affected services at the earliest.
