Srinagar, Dec 26: A road safety awareness event aimed at educating the youth and community on traffic rules and safe driving practices was held today at Degree College Nawakadal. The event was a collaborative effort by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Kashmir, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, Kashmir Road Safety Foundation (KRSF), and the host college.The program began with a keynote speech by the college principal, who highlighted the critical role of youth in fostering a culture of road safety. He urged students to actively advocate for responsible driving and adherence to traffic laws.Addressing the gathering, SSP Traffic City Srinagar shed light on the alarming rise in road accidents in the region. He emphasized the need for strict compliance with traffic rules to prevent loss of lives and property.Representatives from the Kashmir Road Safety Foundation delivered an engaging presentation that covered accident prevention strategies, the importance of safe driving habits, and the risks associated with reckless road behavior. They shared real-life case studies to reinforce the gravity of traffic violations and their consequences.RTO Kashmir focused on vehicle fitness, proper licensing, and government initiatives aimed at enhancing road safety. He encouraged participants to prioritize regular maintenance of their vehicles and adhere to licensing norms to reduce road mishaps.DIPR Kashmir ensured wide media coverage of the event, extending its impact beyond the college campus to the broader community.The program concluded with a pledge by students and attendees to become responsible road users and advocates of traffic safety. This initiative marks a significant step towards reducing road accidents and fostering a safer driving environment in Kashmir.
