
Srinagar, Feb 13(TKD) – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property worth ₹18 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler, Javid Ahmad Wani, son of Ali Mohammad, a resident of Gasoo, Tehsil Hazratbal. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The accused has been involved in multiple drug-related cases, including FIR No. 136/2022 under sections 8/20 NDPS Act at Police Station Nigeen and FIR No. 27/2024 under sections 8/20, 21 NDPS Act at Police Station Zakoora. Police sources confirmed that Wani has been a habitual offender, actively supplying narcotic substances, particularly targeting the youth, thereby endangering public safety.
The attached property was identified as proceeds of illegal drug trade and was confiscated under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, with confirmation from the competent authority and administrator of SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators-Forfeiture of Property Act), New Delhi. As per legal provisions, the seized property cannot be transferred, sold, or dealt with without prior permission from the competent authority.
This decisive action is part of J&K Police’s intensified efforts to dismantle drug networks by targeting their financial foundations. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and have urged public cooperation in identifying drug dealers and peddlers.
