Bravery in the Line of Duty: Soldier Succumbs After Sopore Encounter

Sopore, Jan 20 : A soldier injured in an intense encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Gujjarpati area of Zaloora, Sopore, has tragically succumbed to his injuries, officials confirmed. The encounter erupted late last evening, disrupting the quiet of the region.

An official stated that the operation was temporarily halted due to darkness but resumed with the first light of day, leading to renewed firing. “In the exchange, a soldier sustained critical injuries and was immediately evacuated to a hospital, where he later succumbed.”

The joint forces, comprising the Army, CRPF, and police, had launched a cordon-and-search operation on Sunday, uncovering a hideout. During the operation, the team came under fire, sparking the encounter. The operation is still underway.
