Sopore Encounter: Soldier Injured as Fresh Firing Erupts in Zaloora

Sopore, Jan 20: A soldier sustained injuries as fresh firing erupted during an ongoing encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Gujjarpati area of Zaloora, Sopore, on Monday, officials reported.

The encounter, which began late Sunday evening, had been paused overnight due to darkness. An official informed News Agency that firing resumed with the first light of dawn. “In the ensuing exchange of fire, a soldier was injured,” the official said.

On Sunday, joint forces comprising the Army, CRPF, and police cordoned off the area, uncovering a militant hideout. “During the searches, security forces came under fire, triggering the encounter,” the official added.

The operation remains ongoing, and further updates are expected.
