Family of Five Dies Due to ‘Suffocation’ in Srinagar

Srinagar Jan 5: A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Pandrethan area of Srinagar, where a family of five, including a father, mother, and their three children, tragically lost their lives due to suffocation.

According to initial reports, the family was found unconscious inside their rented accommodation in Pandrethan area of Srinagar outskirts.

Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing no movement from the household.

Emergency teams and police rushed to the spot, but all five were declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of death to be suffocation, likely due to a malfunctioning heating system.

With the harsh winter gripping the Valley, families often rely on heating appliances, which, if improperly ventilated, can emit toxic fumes like carbon monoxide.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident and identification of the deceased is being ascertained
