Srinagar, June 26: Kashmir’s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, visited the Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar on Tuesday to express solidarity with families affected by a recent devastating fire, including those associated with the historic Bazar Masjid which was reduced to rubble. During his visit, Mirwaiz praised the efforts of the administration and police in responding to the emergency and emphasized the need for collective action to reconstruct the damaged homes, shopping complex, and mosque.

Speaking to reporters, Mirwaiz lamented the extensive destruction caused by the blaze, which also consumed numerous houses and a bustling shopping area. He acknowledged the critical role played by police and local authorities in supporting firefighting efforts, despite challenges with the timely arrival of fire tenders.

Now is the time for the administration, mosque management, business leaders, youth, and residents to join hands and initiate a concerted effort towards the reconstruction of our lost heritage,” Mirwaiz stated, underscoring his solidarity with affected families and shop owners.

The visit by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, alongside Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohiduin Bhat and SSP Srinagar Ashish Mishra, underscores a unified approach towards restoring normalcy and rebuilding the community following this tragic event in Bohri Kadal.
