Rain Disrupts International Yoga Day Events in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Early morning rainfall on Friday disrupted International Yoga Day events in Kashmir, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to lead the celebrations on the banks of the Dal Lake, officials said.

The main yoga event at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) was set to commence at 6:30 am. However, moderate to heavy rainfall across the Valley complicated plans for open-air yoga sessions, officials reported.

Heavy downpours specifically around Dal Lake, the planned site for Prime Minister Modi’s primary yoga event, further hindered the proceedings.
