Police Raid Houses of Separatist Leaders Belonging to Banned Organizations in Budgam

Budgam, Mar 23, KNT: The police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam on Sunday raided multiple locations across the district in connection with ongoing investigations into militancy-related cases.

According to officials, the searches were conducted in connection with FIR No 08/2024, 09/2024, and 87/2024, registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), against members of proscribed organisations Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Muslim League, and Peoples Freedom League. These organisations were officially banned in 2024.

The raids were carried out at the residences of suspected overground workers and activists linked to these banned outfits in villages including Daharmuna, Warpora, Badran, Kawoosa Khalisa, and Buzgoo in Budgam district.

They said that during the operation, police searched the premises thoroughly and seized various materials for further investigation.

Earlier, authorities had conducted searches at the head office of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, located at Milli Trust building in Hyderpora, where incriminating material was recovered and seized.

A police official, while reiterating their commitment to maintaining law and order in Budgam, stated that stringent action would continue against unlawful elements to dismantle the militant network in the region. [KNT]
