Police Arrest Notorious Drug Peddler in Anantnag; 2.9 Kg of Cannabis Recovered

Anantnag, Dec 5(TKD): In a continued crackdown on drug-related crimes, the Anantnag Police apprehended a notorious drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband during a checkpoint operation.

A police team from Police Station Srigufwara, stationed at Nowshara crossing, intercepted and arrested Mohd Amin Zargar, a resident of Sirhama. Zargar, identified as the son-in-law of Gh Hassan Ganie, was found in possession of approximately 2.9 kilograms of cannabis during the search.

The accused was taken into custody and shifted to Police Station Srigufwara. A case under FIR No. 97/2024 has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.

Police have urged the public to assist in the fight against drug peddling by reporting suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. Authorities assured that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in drug-related offenses, as part of their commitment to creating a drug-free society-(TKD)
