In a swift and proportionate response to Pakistan’s attempted escalation, the Indian Armed Forces have successfully neutralized multiple military threats, reaffirming their commitment to a non-escalatory posture unless provoked.
During a press briefing on Operation SINDOOR held on 07 May, India had emphasized that its previous response was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” and clarified that no Pakistani military establishments had been targeted. It also warned that any attack on Indian military targets would be met with an appropriate response.
In the early hours of 08 May, Pakistan attempted a major offensive by launching drone and missile strikes targeting military installations across Northern and Western India. Locations included Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and several others. Thanks to India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence Systems, all incoming threats were intercepted, with debris now being recovered from various locations, further confirming the Pakistani offensive.
India retaliated by targeting Pakistani Air Defence radars and systems, including a confirmed hit on a system in Lahore. The Indian response remained within the same military domain and matched the intensity of Pakistan’s aggression.
Simultaneously, Pakistan escalated unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) using mortars and heavy artillery in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri. Tragically, sixteen civilians—including three women and five children—lost their lives.
In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched countermeasures to silence the hostile artillery, underlining once again that India seeks no escalation but will act decisively if provoked.
India continues to uphold restraint but warns that peace cannot be one-sided. The Armed Forces remain vigilant and committed to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and its people.
