Pakistan’s Attempt to Strike Indian Military Sites Foiled: Col Sofiya Qureshi

New Delhi, May 8, 2025:
Pakistan attempted a coordinated drone and missile attack on multiple Indian military installations across Northern and Western India on the night of May 7–8, but all threats were successfully neutralised, said Colonel Sofiya Qureshi in a press briefing on Operation Sindoor.

Colonel Qureshi stated that despite India’s earlier assurance of a measured and non-escalatory response—wherein Pakistani military establishments were deliberately not targeted—Islamabad escalated tensions by attempting strikes on several strategic locations. The targeted sites included Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.

“All incoming threats were intercepted and neutralised by our Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems,” said Colonel Qureshi. She further confirmed that debris from the intercepted attacks is being recovered from various locations, serving as evidence of Pakistan’s hostile intent.

The Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, reaffirming that any aggression targeting Indian military assets will be met with an appropriate and robust response.
