Jailhouse Blast: Nine Inmates Injured in Gas Cylinder Explosion

SRINAGAR: Nine inmates sustained injuries following a gas cylinder explosion inside the district jail on Wednesday.

According to an official report from GNS, the blast occurred due to a gas leak from the cylinder, resulting in injuries to nine inmates.

“The injured inmates have been identified as: Syed Tawseef Gilani of Tangdhar, Shahjahan Shah of Dangarpora Sopore, Jameel Ahmad of Tangdhar, Ashiq Hussain Teli of Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad Bhat of Amargarh Sopore, Ghulam Rasool War of Gonipora Kupwara, Javid Ahmad Bhat of Barsoo Ganderbal, Hilal Ahmad Malik of Sopore, and Javid Ahmad Malla of Arin Bandipora,” the official stated.

“The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Four inmates, with more serious injuries, were referred to a hospital in Srinagar for further care,” he added.
