
Baramulla, June 19: In a day long operation, security forces successfully neutralized Usman, a notorious expert in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and his associate Umar during an intense gunfight in the Rafiabad area of Police District Sopore.
The operation, conducted jointly by local police and paramilitary forces, unfolded early this morning following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants in the area. Usman and Umar, both identified as Pakistani nationals, were cornered by the security forces, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
According to sources, Usman was a highly skilled militant known for his expertise in crafting and deploying IEDs against security personnel and civilian targets in the region. His elimination marks a significant setback for militant activities in the area, as he was believed to be instrumental in several recent attacks.
The gunfight, which lasted for hours, resulted in the neutralization of both militants. Security forces recovered a cache of weapons and explosives from the encounter site, underscoring the intensity of the clash.
