IED Intended To Target Security Forces Defused In J&K’s Shopian

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Security forces on Wednesday detected and defused a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists on a road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, an Army official said.

He said a tragedy was averted as the IED was “apparently meant to target security forces’ vehicles”.

The device was found along the Zainapora-Chitargam road in the south Kashmir district early this morning during routine sanitisation operations, the official said.

He said the object was found to be a powerful IED during examination. A bomb disposal squad was called to the site and the IED was neutralised. (Agencies)
