DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat Reviews Security Strategy in J&K

Calls for Stronger Surveillance, Community Policing and Anti-Drug Measures

Srinagar, Sep 11 (KNC): Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat (IPS), on Thursday reviewed the prevailing security scenario and outline measures to further strengthen the law-and-order framework across the Union Territory.

DGP Prabhat chaired a security review meeting to assess the prevailing security situation in the UT of J&K and to discuss measures to further strengthen the security framework.

In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, The meeting was attended by Spl. DG Coordination J&K Shri S.J.M Gillani, ADGP Hqrs PHQ J&K Shri MK Sinha, ADGP Armed J&K Shri Anand Jain, ADGP CID J&K Shri Nitish Kumar, IGsP of (Kashmir Zone, Jammu Zone, Crime J&K, Traffic J&K, Railways J&K), all range DIsG of J&K, DIG Pers PHQ, DPT J&K, all district SSsP of J&K, SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, SO to DGP J&K, AIG (CT & Int) PHQ and other senior officers.

At the outset, the Zonal Inspector Generals and heads of various wings briefed the DGP J&K on the current security situation in the Union Territory. The DGP was also briefed about the recent developments regarding anti-terrorist operations and actions taken in response. The discussion further focused on recent security issues, ongoing challenges, and strategies to address them. DGP J&K stressed the importance of reviewing and strengthening security plans, as well as developing effective counter-insurgency measures to ensure the smooth and peaceful execution of upcoming events.

Shri Nalin Prabhat directed the officers to intensify surveillance on anti-national elements and ramp up area domination efforts in their respective areas. He emphasized the importance of bolstering security around vulnerable targets and ensuring foolproof security measures. Additionally, DGP J&K urged district heads to closely monitor social media platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation that could jeopardize public safety and order.

The DGP J&K also addressed the issue of rising general crime in certain areas of the UT and directed district heads to strengthen community policing initiatives and improve public outreach programs. He stressed the need for targeted operations to disrupt criminal networks and maintain a sense of safety and security among the public. Underscoring the critical need for a coordinated approach to combat the growing menace of narcotics, the DGP directed the officers to take stringent action against those involved in the drug trade.

The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to enhance vigilance, strengthen coordination, and ensure the effective implementation of security measures to uphold peace and safety throughout the valley, reads the statement. (KNC)
