Clarification on the Fatal Road Accident at Azadganj Baramulla

Baramulla, May 27: A tragic incident occurred yesterday at Azadganj in Baramulla, leading to the death of Abdul Ghani Rather, son of Abdul Gaffar Rather, a resident of Dewanbagh, Baramulla, and a plumber by profession.

Contrary to multiple media reports and web feeds circulated on various platforms, it has been confirmed that Abdul Ghani Rather did not come under an army vehicle, as was falsely reported.

According to the officials and eye witnesses account, the incident occurred when Abdul Ghani and a companion, riding a scooty (JK01T-7661), lost control while trying to navigate through oncoming traffic. Abdul Ghani, who was not wearing a helmet, fell from the scooty and suffered a critical head injury. He was immediately taken to GMC Baramulla, where he was declared dead.

The other rider fled the scene, and his whereabouts are yet to be ascertained.

Authorities have urged the public and media houses to refrain from spreading unverified and misleading information that can create unnecessary panic and tension.

The police have taken cognizance of the incident and are conducting further investigations.
