Body of Man Who Jumped into Jhelum River on Eid Retrieved After Five Days in Sopore

SOPORE, June 21: The body of Mohammed Amin Ahanger, who jumped into the river Jhelum in the Jamia area of Sopore on June 17, was recovered on Friday.

An official told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Ahanger, a resident of Batpora Sopore, was retrieved near the Khushal Matoo locality after a five-day search.

As soon as Ahanger, a driver by profession, jumped into the river on Eid day, a rescue operation was launched by the SDRF, police, and locals.

His body was recovered this afternoon and will be handed over to his family after the completion of all legal and medical formalities, the official added.
