New Delhi, May 7 – In a powerful and precise counter-terror operation, India has avenged the deadly Pahalgam terror attack through “Operation Sindoor”, striking nine high-value terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Indian Air Force and Army jointly targeted the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke, both located deep inside Pakistan’s Punjab province. A senior Pakistani military spokesperson confirmed the strikes to BBC, acknowledging hits on both terror hubs.
The Indian Ministry of Defence, in a statement released at 1:44 AM, said:
“Operation Sindoor was launched to dismantle terror infrastructure used for planning and launching attacks against India. The operation was focused, restrained, and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military installations were targeted.”
This massive retaliatory strike comes just two weeks after the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 innocent lives.
India’s intelligence had long tracked these facilities:
- Bahawalpur, the JeM stronghold, was established by Masood Azhar, mastermind of several attacks including Parliament (2001), Pathankot (2016), and Pulwama (2019).
- Muridke, the LeT nerve centre, is led by Hafiz Saeed, the UN-designated terrorist and architect of the 26/11 Mumbai terror siege.
With Operation Sindoor, India has sent a clear message — terrorism will not go unanswered.
