Advocate Mian Qayoom Arrested in Connection with Babar Qadri Murder Case


Srinagar, June 26: In a significant development, Senior Advocate Mian Qayoom, former President of the High Court Bar Association in Kashmir, was arrested on Tuesday by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in connection with the murder of advocate Babar Qadri, according to media reports.Sr

Babar Qadri, a well-known lawyer and prominent debater, was tragically assassinated at his residence in Srinagar in September 2020. The State Investigation Agency of Jammu and Kashmir had been investigating the case.

Reports suggest that Qayoom is currently being questioned by authorities, and investigations into the murder continue to unfold.

Qadri’s killing shocked the legal community and the public alike. According to witnesses, he was shot at close range by unidentified assailants who had come under the guise of seeking legal advice. Despite efforts to rush him to SKIMS hospital, Qadri succumbed to his injuries.

The arrest of Mian Qayoom marks a significant development in the case, shedding new light on the investigation into this tragic incident that shook Srinagar’s legal fraternity.
