3 minors among 4 members of family die of suspected food poisoning in Rajouri

Jammu, Dec 8 (GNS): Four members of a family, three of them minors, died due to suspected food poisoning in a village in Rajouri district, police said on Sunday. A child and his mother have been hospitalised, they said.

Official sources told GNS that entire family fell ill after eating some food at their home in Kandi village in Kotranka Budhal area and were subsequently shifted to SMHS hospital. Four of them died and two others being mother and child are still under treatment, they said. Condition of the woman, the mother, is stated to be out of danger.

A police officer told GNS that Fazal Hussain son of Nazam Din and five members of the family were shifted to the hospital and four of them died. The deceased include Fazal Hussain, 40, his two daughters—Rabia Kousar (15) and Farmana Kouser (10) besides his 4-year-old son, Raftar Ahmed. Hussain’s wife Shamim Akhter (38) and 12-year-old son Ruksar Ahmed are under treatment, he said. Condition of Ruksar remains serious, the officer, quoting doctors at the hospital, said.

He said that a case has been registered and further investigations are underway. (GNS)
