Srinagar Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize Contraband Substances

Srinagar, Nov26 (TKD) – Srinagar Police apprehended two drug peddlers during naka checking at 90 Feet Road near Matoo Steel. Contraband substances, including Brown Sugar, were recovered from their possession, and two vehicles used in the crime were seized.

The operation intercepted a Scooty (JK01AN-6945) and a Zen car (JK01H-5675), which were traveling simultaneously from Awantabawan towards Elahibagh. Upon searching the Zen vehicle, 10 grams of Brown Sugar were recovered from the driver, identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir, son of Gh. Qadir, a resident of Bilal Colony, Soura. Similarly, a search of the Scooty rider led to the seizure of 6 grams of Brown Sugar from Shah Murtaza Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal Shah, also a resident of Bilal Colony, Soura.

Both individuals were arrested on the spot, and the vehicles were seized. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused are chronic drug peddlers actively involved in distributing illegal drugs, particularly targeting the youth in the Soura area of Srinagar.

An FIR (No. 90/2024) has been registered at Police Station Soura under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.

Police have urged community members to provide information about drug peddling in their neighborhoods. Authorities reiterated that those involved in drug-related activities will face strict legal action.
