SPECIAL MAHA SHIVRATRI POOJA HELD IN KULGAM AND ANANTNAG DISTRICTS

Kulgam/Anantnag, On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, special pooja ceremonies were organized in various temples across the Kulgam and Anantnag districts, with the grandest celebration taking place at the historic Surya Mandir in Matan, Anantnag. A large number of devotees (Shraddhalu) gathered at the temple to offer prayers and seek divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and security in the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Maha Shivratri festival, dedicated to Lord Shiva, holds great spiritual significance for the devotees, who observe fasting, chant hymns, and perform rituals to seek his divine grace. The Surya Mandir in Matan witnessed an overwhelming presence of devotees from different parts of the region, showcasing their deep faith and devotion. The temple premises were beautifully decorated, and special arrangements were made to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the pooja.

Devotees performed Abhishekam (ritual bathing of the Shiva Linga) with milk, honey, and water, followed by chanting of Vedic mantras and bhajans. The atmosphere was filled with spiritual fervor as the temple resonated with the sounds of bells and devotional songs. The event also included hawan (sacred fire ceremony), where prayers were offered for the well-being of society and the nation.

Religious scholars and priests emphasized the importance of Maha Shivratri in fostering unity, harmony, and inner peace. They highlighted the significance of Lord Shiva’s divine energy in overcoming darkness and ignorance and spreading wisdom and enlightenment.

Speaking on the occasion, several devotees expressed their heartfelt devotion and prayed for a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. They hoped that the blessings of Lord Shiva would bring an era of stability, harmony, and development in the region.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, local authorities and temple management had put in place comprehensive security and logistical arrangements. Volunteers played a vital role in guiding the devotees and maintaining order during the rituals.

The celebrations concluded with the distribution of prasad (holy offerings), and devotees left the temple with renewed spiritual energy and a sense of divine fulfillment.

The Maha Shivratri celebrations in Kulgam and Anantnag once again reinforced the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual heritage of the region, bringing together people in devotion and prayer for a brighter and peaceful future.
