Sopore Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Contraband Substances.

Sopore, 04 August 2024:

In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Sopore Police has arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO PS Sopore Insp. Ayaz Gellani and IC PP Warpora PSI Bilal Rashid under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS, at a checkpoint at Brath Road near Butchek Mode, apprehended two suspected persons.

During the search, Police party was able to recover 52 grams of contraband Heroine like substance from their possession.

On preliminary verification they disclosed their identity as:

1. Tabish Nazir Bhat S/O Nazir Ahmad Bhat R/O Dangerpora Sopore and
2. Javaid Ahmad Tantray S/O Abdul Majeed Tantray R/O Khunbal Handwara.

In this regard, case FIR No. 187/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.

Sopore police urges the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112.

General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
