Sheikh Rouf Urges Govt to Start Special Trains for Apple Growers Amid Highway Closure

Anantnag, Sept 2:
Sheikh Rouf, District President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Anantnag, has appealed to the Government of India and the Union Territory administration to immediately arrange special trains for apple growers, as the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains closed for several days due to adverse weather conditions.

Highlighting the plight of the horticulture sector, Rouf said the highway blockade is choking the lifeline of apple growers, causing massive distress and financial losses. He emphasized that timely transportation of apple produce is crucial to safeguard the interests of thousands of families dependent on the trade.

Rouf urged authorities to take urgent measures to ensure smooth movement of fruit consignments, stressing that a proactive response is the need of the hour to prevent further suffering of the farming community.
