Pulwama, November 11: Demonstrating prompt action on credible intelligence, Pulwama Police arrested a man accused of impersonating a Special Operations Group (SOG) officer and extorting money from unsuspecting locals.
The accused has been identified as Altaf Ahmad Dar, son of Assadullah Dar, a resident of Marval Kakpora. According to police sources, Dar had been posing as an SOG Srinagar officer, allegedly threatening people and demanding money under the guise of official authority.
Following the complaint, a case under FIR No. 74/2025 has been registered at the concerned police station under Sections 319/351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused is currently in custody.
During the preliminary investigation, several individuals have reported being intimidated and coerced by the impersonator. Their statements have been recorded, and the police are continuing investigations to identify any additional victims or accomplices involved in the fraudulent activity.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against such offences, the Jammu and Kashmir Police urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious or unlawful conduct to the nearest police station.
“The department remains steadfast in its mission to protect citizens from deceitful and criminal acts,” the police spokesperson said.
