
Srinagar Feb 25(TKD): In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, police in Srinagar and Kulgam arrested two drug peddlers, recovering a significant quantity of contraband from their possession.
In Srinagar, a police team led by SHO PS Shalteng, in coordination with the CKR office, intercepted a vehicle (CH01M-9496) at Narbal Sozieth Bund. The driver, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khowaja of Dildar Karnah Kupwara, attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended. Upon searching the vehicle, 910 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered. The accused was arrested, and the vehicle was seized.
In Kulgam, police on patrol at Malwan (Devsar jurisdiction) stopped a suspicious individual carrying a bag. Upon checking, 10 kgs of grinded cannabis-like contraband was found. The accused, Arsalan Azad Ganie of Malwan, was taken into custody.Cases under relevant legal provisions have been registered at both police stations, and investigations are underway. Police have reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urged citizens to cooperate in eliminating the menace from society–(TKD)
