Headmaster booked for assaulting student in Bandipora

Bandipora, Nov 04 : Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday booked a headmaster of Government Primary School in Koli Mohalla after he allegedly assaulted a male student, resulting in a severe eye injury.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a case has been registered under the case number 63/2024 at the BNS PS Pathkoot, citing sections 115(2) and 351(2) of the penal code.

The incident took place in the classroom, when a headmaster hit a student near the eye with a stick.

According to the complaint, headmaster has a history of similar behavior, regularly resorting to physical discipline against students.

The student’s father, Reyaz Ahmed Lone, reported that his son was instructed by the headmaster to claim the injury occurred from a fall in the washroom, official said.

Meanwhile, another parent, Murtaza Baba, stated, “We have received multiple complaints from our children. Sheikh not only neglects his teaching duties but also spends time managing a fish farm next to the school.”—(KNO)
