Srinagar, July 11 (KD): A sudden spell of strong winds wreaked havoc in Langate’s Qaziabad and Kralgund Market areas of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday evening, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
According to reports reaching The Kashmir Dialogues, the fierce gusts toppled rooftops, felled electric poles, and snapped power lines, causing significant damage to vehicles and critical infrastructure. Several cars parked along the roads bore the brunt of collapsing debris, resulting in heavy losses for local residents and shopkeepers.
The high-velocity winds also tore down electric cables across the area, plunging the entire locality into darkness and disrupting essential services.
Police teams swiftly reached the affected spots, urging the public to stay indoors and maintain a safe distance from exposed or damaged electrical structures to avoid any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, restoration work has been initiated with efforts underway to clear blocked roads and reinstate traffic and electricity supply. Authorities have assured timely repair and support for affected residents as assessments of damage continue.
