Anantnag, May 2 (JKNS): On the directions of J&K State Drugs Controller Lotika Khajuria, the Drug Control Authority Anantnag, in collaboration with the Health Department, carried out a series of inspections across multiple areas in district Anantnag on Friday.

An official told news agency JKNS that, over 45 inspections were conducted at medical sale establishments in KP Road Mattan, NTPHC Mattan, Seer Hamdan, Aishmuqam, Batkot, and the main market of Pahalgam.

A joint team of Drug Control Officers and health officials found most shops in compliance with surveillance equipment guidelines and the computerized billing system.

However, the operation of three shops was disallowed on the spot due to various violations, including the absence of a qualified person and unhygienic conditions.

Additionally, the PMJA drug stores housed at PHC Mattan and Seer Hamdan were show-caused for non-functioning of their computerized billing systems.

The inspecting teams also visited drug stores of various government health facilities and issued directions regarding the maintenance of cold storage and hygiene standards for stocked medicines.

Speaking to JKNS, the Assistant Drug Controller Anantnag urged all chemists in the district to strictly adhere to the circulars and directives issued by the department. “Failure to comply may invite strict administrative action under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules thereunder,” he warned.
