District Police Kulgam intensifies efforts against drug trafficking, Three Arrested .

Sri Nagar,Aug 08 (KB):In a strong campaign against drug trafficking, District Police Kulgam arrested three individuals involved in drug peddling and recovered large quantities of contraband substances

In this operation carried out on August 08, Qaimoh Police established a checkpoint in the village of Khudwani. During the operation, two suspects, Zahid Mohiuddin Bhat of Gufbal and Talib Gull of Qaimoh, were apprehended. The police recovered 6 grams of brown sugar and 1 kilogram of poppy straw from their possession, kept hidden in a nylon bag. Both suspects have been taken into custody and are presently lodged at the Qaimoh police station.

In another incident, the Devsar police, during patrolling of the Cheyan area, apprehended one Naseer Ahmad Shan of Kilam, who was found carrying 1 kilogram of grinded cannabis and 600 grams of poppy straw, concealed in a nylon bag. The seizure has once again brought to the fore the issue of drug trafficking in the region.

Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against the suspects at the corresponding police stations. At Qaimoh police station, FIR No. 77/2024 was lodged against Zahid Mohiuddin Bhat and Talib Gull, and FIR No. 67/2024 was lodged against Naseer Ahmad Shan at Devsar police station. Investigations into these cases are in progress.

District Police Kulgam appeals to the community members to be vigilant and report any undesirable activity pertaining to drug trafficking. The police assures that all possible efforts are in hand to combat the menace of drugs in order to ensure a safe and drug-free environment to the residents.— (KB)
