GANDERBAL, JANAURY 03: A review meeting of the District-Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir to review and assess the implementation of tobacco control measures across the district here in the V.C Room of DC Office.During the meeting, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Ganderbal delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.He highlighted the strategies for establishing Tobacco-Free Institutions, Villages, and Workplaces.He emphasized to promote and declare more institutions, villages, and workplaces as tobacco-free zones.Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the need for coordinated and sustained effort to make Ganderbal a model district in effective tobacco control. He urged all stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving the goal of a Tobacco-Free Ganderbal.The DC issued the several directions to all stakeholders for effective implementation of the COTPA Act, 2003, across the district to curb tobacco use.He also stressed to Promote and declare more institutions, villages, and workplaces as tobacco-free zone, thereby fostering a healthier environment.The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to intensify their efforts and ensure timely reporting and monitoring of progress under the NTCP. The meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including EO Municipal Council Ganderbal, MS District Hospital, DySP HQ, Food Inspector, Assistant Information Officer, Officials from Education and Sales Tax Departments.
