PULWAMA, June 16: The Cyber Unit Pulwama has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud, freezing Rs 1,44,500 in two separate online scam cases.
In both instances, victims were enticed by web links received through WhatsApp, promising lucrative work-from-home opportunities. The scams involved persuading victims to invest money with the promise of high returns. Initially, small tasks with quick profits were provided to hook the victims. As trust built, they were encouraged to invest larger sums, resulting in substantial financial losses.
Pulwama Police issued a stern warning to citizens, urging vigilance against such deceptive schemes. They emphasized that legitimate investment opportunities do not offer guaranteed rapid or significant returns. The public is advised to exercise caution and make informed investment decisions.
The Cyber Unit Pulwama and local authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the financial interests of the community. They vowed to continue their proactive efforts in preventing cybercrimes and ensuring the security of online transactions.
