Audit Week in Kashmir Commences with Audit Run and Dal Cleanliness

In a significant development, today under the auspices of Principal Accountant General Jammu and Kashmir the week long Audit week events part commenced in Jammu and Kashmir.
An Audit run on famous bolevard Road on banks of Dal Lake.
The cleanliness drive of Dal Lake was also organized. Renowned environmentalist Manzoor Wangoo lauded these efforts and opined Dal is heart of Kashmir tourism and we should do all to preserve it and promote ecotourism.

The Office of the Principal Accountant General, Jammu and Kashmir, is delighted to announce the celebrations for Audit Diwas on November 16, 2024, followed by Audit Week from November 16 to 21, 2024. Events will be held at both the Head Office in Srinagar and the Branch Office in Jammu, ensuring widespread participation and engagement.

About Audit Diwas
Observed annually on November 16, Audit Diwas commemorates the significant contributions of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance. The first Audit Diwas was celebrated in 2021.
The institution of public auditing in India has a rich history, tracing back to the establishment of the Office of the Accountant General in 1858, the same year the British Crown took over administrative control of India from the East India Company. In 1860, Sir Edward Drummond was appointed as the first Auditor General, laying the foundation for institutionalized auditing in the country.
Audit Week 2024: Engaging Stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir
To mark the occasion, the Office of the Principal Accountant General, Jammu and Kashmir, has planned a series of activities to engage with stakeholders and highlight the significance of public auditing from November 16, 2024 to November 20 2024.
Ravinder Singh, Senior Deputy Accountant General said these series of activities are aimed to ensure good of society , and raise awareness about diverse functions of Principal Accountant General works.
In the Audit Marathon , Male, Female, Children category the two toppers were awarded.
The cleanliness drive of famed Dal Lake was enthusiastically carried out by employees of PAG Jammu and Kashmir.
