Anantnag Police Continues Crackdown on Drug Peddlers; Two Apprehended with Large Quantities of Narcotic Substances

Anantnag, April 8 2025:
In its sustained efforts to root out the menace of drugs from the society, Anantnag Police has apprehended two drug peddlers and seized significant quantities of contraband substances in two separate actions.

Acting on specific information, a naka was established by a Police party from Police Station Aishmuqam at Bashnaar. During the operation, one individual identified as Muzaffer Ahmed Shah, son of Latief Shah, resident of Hardkichloo Aishmuqam, was apprehended. Upon search, approximately 10 kg 270 grams of Charas powder was recovered from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 11/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Aishmuqam and investigation has been taken up.

In another operation, a Police party from Police Post Khanabal apprehended one person, identified as Khayam Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Gani, resident of Batangoo, at Shohal Batangoo. Upon search, the team recovered 07 kg of Poppy Straw from his possession. Accordingly, a case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
