Amarnath Yatra: Srinagar Police Leads Joint Mock Drill to Evaluate Emergency Preparedness

Srinagar, June 25 (TKD): In a proactive measure to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, a comprehensive joint mock drill was carried out at Yatra Niwas in Pantha Chowk on Wednesday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr. Sandeep Chakravarti, while briefing the media, said the primary objective of the exercise was to evaluate inter-agency coordination and the readiness to respond to emergencies such as bomb blasts, stampedes, fire outbreaks, road accidents, and potential terror threats.

“Personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and other concerned agencies participated in the drill. It demonstrates that all departments are well-coordinated and prepared to manage any untoward incident during the yatra,” Dr. Chakravarti stated.

He further emphasized that the mock drill reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe pilgrimage and appealed to the public to support measures like cut-off timings and other logistical arrangements for the smooth conduct of the yatra.
