Jammu, July 2 (TKD): The sacred journey to the Amarnath cave shrine commenced on a spiritual and high-security note on Wednesday morning, as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.
Amidst resonating chants of “Bum Bum Bhole” and “Har Har Mahadev,” the atmosphere was electric with devotion as the convoy of over 3,500 pilgrims embarked on the revered Yatra towards the holy cave nestled in the Himalayas.
According to officials, two batches departed under heightened security from Jammu, with tight surveillance and stringent safety measures in place along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) to ensure a smooth and protected passage.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), LG Sinha shared his heartfelt wishes, stating, “Wishing all spiritual seekers a safe and comfortable journey to the holy abode of Lord Shiva and a deeply soul-stirring experience. Prayed to Baba Amarnath for peace and blessings to all.”
On the eve of the Yatra, LG Sinha personally visited the Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar to inspect the arrangements. He reviewed food and lodging provisions, medical facilities, sanitation, power and water supply, registration counters, and overall emergency preparedness.
During his interaction with the devotees, LG Sinha expressed his warm wishes for a spiritually enriching and peaceful pilgrimage. He had earlier chaired a series of security review meetings and engaged with political leaders, civil society members, and religious bodies to ensure comprehensive readiness for the annual pilgrimage.
The Amarnath Yatra 2025 is now officially underway, echoing devotion, unity, and tight coordination among security and administrative agencies.
