AIFB Demands Early Elections in Jammu and Kashmir

Party Urges EC to Restore Democratic Process

Srinagar: All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) General Secretary for Jammu and Kashmir and social-political activist Amjid Ali held a press conference at Circuit House Srinagar, demanding that the Election Commission of India conduct Assembly elections in the state as soon as possible. The Jammu & Kashmir State Committee of AIFB, a party founded by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and an ally of the INDIA bloc, emphasized the need to reinstate democratic processes in the region.

Since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a significant governance restructuring. AIFB contends that elections are crucial to restoring democratic representation and empowering the people of the state. The absence of a legislative assembly has left citizens without a voice in decision-making, hindering development and hindering the region’s progress.

Party General Secretary J&K Amjid Ali, known for his peace initiatives in South Kashmir, highlighted the importance of inclusive governance. Jammu and Kashmir’s diverse population necessitates a platform where all voices are heard and represented. Elections would foster social cohesion and prevent marginalization, contributing to national integration while respecting the region’s unique identity.

The AIFB appealed to the people to remain vigilant against attempts to delay elections under the pretext of security concerns. The party emphasized that elections are a moral imperative to uphold democratic principles and human rights.

The J&K State Committee of AIFB met on August 10th and 11th, 2024, under the chairmanship of Shahid Manzur. G. Devarajan, General Secretary of the Central Committee, addressed the meeting, discussing the current socio-political situation and Central Committee decisions.
Amjid Ali presented the organizational report, followed by deliberations from other committee members.

The meeting resolved to launch a campaign titled “Har Ghar Netaji” to promote Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s nationalist political philosophy. Preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections were also initiated, with district-level meetings planned to disseminate the state committee’s decisions.
