ACB Arrests Fair Price Shop Dealer for Accepting Rs 4,000 Bribe in Kulgam

The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a fair price shop dealer for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 in Pati Bongam village of Kulgam district.
According to a spokesperson, the ACB received a complaint against Ajaz Ahmad Malik, the fair price shop dealer, alleging that he demanded a bribe for the release of ration and KYC processing. The complainant stated that Malik was denying him his monthly ration, citing the need to submit KYC documents, and demanded Rs 7,500 as a bribe.
The complainant managed to arrange Rs 4,000 and approached the ACB for action. Upon receiving the complaint, FIR No. 03/2024 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at ACB Police Station Anantnag, and an investigation was initiated. During the investigation, a trap team was formed, and Malik was caught red-handed while accepting the Rs 4,000 bribe from the complainant.
The money was recovered, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
