Banihal, June 28: Two persons lost their lives in a tragic road accident early morning when a Canter truck bearing registration number JK14J/7550 skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Nachilana on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Banihal area of Ramban district.

According to SHO Banihal, Ashiq Bukhari, the truck was enroute to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Both the driver and the conductor died on the spot .

He said soon after the report of incident, a rescue operation was launched by police and Himalayan QRT Ramsoo volunteers and recovered the bodies from damaged truck.

He said identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

Their bodies have been shifted to Sub District Hospital Banihal for medico-legal formalities.

Police is investigating the cause of incident.
