Baramulla, July 7(TKD):
The air was thick with excitement, sweat, and pride as the traditional sport of Kabaddi took center stage at the Indoor Stadium Khawaja Bagh during Varmul Gindo 2025. With four adrenaline-pumping matches and over 150 spectators on their feet, Kabaddi made a thunderous statement — it’s not just a game; it’s a way of life in Baramulla.
Dubbed the “game of warriors,” the sport saw 30 determined athletes from across the district put strength, strategy, and spirit to the ultimate test. From tackles to raids, the mat turned into a battleground where young hearts clashed in pursuit of glory — and identity.
The event’s standout was 19-year-old Faizan Ahmad from Delina, who defied a recent injury to play with his ankle heavily strapped. “Kabaddi is my soul. This platform gave me a chance to fight for more than just a point — it was about pride,” Faizan said after an inspiring performance.
Another moment of magic came from 16-year-old Yasir Lone of Sheeri, the youngest participant. Practicing barefoot on village soil with no formal training, Yasir stunned the crowd with his fearless raids and electrifying speed, winning hearts and raising hopes.
Spectators turned the stadium into a celebration — roaring with chants, cheering each move, and embracing the heritage that Kabaddi represents. Elders watched with gleaming eyes as the next generation carried forward a sport rooted deeply in local tradition…(TKD)
While match results are pending, the real victory was already claimed — by culture, community, and courage. Varmul Gindo 2025 has not just revived a game but rekindled a legacy.
Kabaddi didn’t just return to Baramulla — it roared.
