Srinagar, July 5 (TKD): The Jammu and Kashmir Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory predicting moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the region beginning Saturday, July 6, triggering warnings for flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
According to the MeT Centre Srinagar, the Union Territory is likely to witness intermittent light to moderate rain or thundershowers from July 6 to 8, with some parts—particularly in the Jammu division—expected to receive intense spells of rain during late night and early morning hours.
The advisory extends into July 9 and 10, with scattered to widespread light to moderate rainfall forecast. However, weather conditions are expected to shift again from July 11 to 12, as hot and humid weather returns, though brief spells of rain may occur at isolated places.
Authorities have urged residents in flood-prone and hilly regions to remain alert and avoid risky areas, especially during heavy downpours. Travelers and pilgrims have also been advised to monitor updates and follow safety guidelines issued by local administration and disaster management agencies.
