Illegal Outside Vehicles Fined, Blacklisted in Kokernag; ARTO Conducts Hill-Specific Checks

Anantnag, June 30 (JKNS): Authorities in Anantnag have intensified enforcement against illegally operating vehicles in the hilly areas of Kokernag, particularly on the Kokernag–Margan Top stretch, following reports of misuse by outside-registered vehicles.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Mubashir Jan, led a special checking drive in the Kokernag region where several outside state vehicles found plying without valid permits were heavily fined and blacklisted.

Speaking to JKNS, ARTO Mubashir Jan said, “The hilly regions require special focus as several unregistered or unauthorized vehicles are operating there, posing safety and regulatory concerns. Strict action will continue in the coming days.”

The department has urged all vehicle owners and tourists to comply with transport regulations, especially in ecologically sensitive hill areas. Further inspections are expected in the days ahead to ensure complete compliance and road safety. (JKNS)
