Encounter Underway in Poonch, 2-3 terrorists believed to be trapped

Jammu,Sep 15 (NVI):An encounter underway at Pathanateer near Gursi Top area of Poonch district, officials said Sunday.

A top police officer told NVI that acting on a specific lead about presence of terrorists in the forest area of Pathaneteer, Gursi Top, security forces laid a seige.

“As the troops inched closer to the suspected spot, they came under heavy fire which was exchanged effectively,” the officer said.

He said two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. Additional reinforcements have been called in to ensure terrorists don’t flee. “Cordon layers are being strengthened,” the officer said.

Today’s gunfight comes close on the heels of Kishtwar encounter where two soldiers were killed and two others injured. The encounter also comes a day after three terrorists were killed in Tappar area of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. (News Vibes of India)
