Anantnag Police Arrests Two Drug Peddlers; Contraband Substances Recovered.

In its continued efforts to combat drug menace, Anantnag Police achieved success by arresting two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bijbehara.

In the first incident, a habitual drug peddler, identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Habibullah Dar, resident of Gadhanjipora, Bijbehara, was apprehended during naka checking. Upon his personal search, brown sugar-like substance weighing approximately 12 grams, divided into 73 small polythene-wrapped packets, was recovered. In this regard, FIR No. 139/2025 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is ongoing.

In another naka checking operation conducted at Katritang Bijbehara, Police party apprehended one drug peddler namely Showkat Ahmad Kumar, son of Gh. Mohammad Kumar, resident of Waghama, Bijbehara. During the search, police party recovered about 11.60 kilograms of Poppy Straw from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 140/2025 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act stands registered and investigation has been initiated.
