Northern Railways conduct surprise ticket checking drive in Kashmir, 23 booked

Jammu, May 25: In order to curb ticketless travel in Kashmir Valley and increase revenue for Railways, a surprise ticket check was conducted on Saturday from Baramulla to Sangaldan Railway Station by Northern Railway’s Jammu Division.

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division here said that a surprise ticket check team was formed by Chief Area Manager Srinagar headed by Adil Hussain (Dy CIT Srinagar), Tariq Ahmad (CMI/Srinagar), Feroz Ahmad Khan (TI/Budgam) and Nusrat Qayoom (TTI, Budgam).

The ticket checking drive, he said was conducted in train service 64652 (Baramulla-Sangaldan MEMU) and a total of 23 ticketless passengers were booked and a fine of Rs. 6,520/- was collected.

Singhal appreciated the efforts of the team and termed it as one of the many drives being conducted across the division to check ticketless travelling which is not only an economic crime but also a threat to the sovereignty of the nation and safety of genuine rail passengers.–(UNI)
